AROC: Arab Resource and Organizing Center is a grassroots organization working to empower and organize our community towards justice and self-determination for all. AROC provides legal and other social services and members build community power by participating in leadership development, political education, and campaigns.

Position Summary
The Lead Organizer will be responsible for strategically developing and coordinating the base-building and campaign work of the organization. The ideal candidate would bring highly developed campaigning, organizing and movement building skills; leadership development; experience organizing immigrant and/or working class communities; familiarity with local, national and international political and movement landscapes; an understanding of the global political economy; and a commitment to social justice. The Lead Organizer will work across teams to advance AROC's mission and vision.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Organizing Strategy and Implementation
- Create goals and plans to grow and engage members in base building efforts, campaign work, leadership development, and related organizing activities.
- Engage directly in community organizing strategies and tactics alongside organizing team.
- Develop and bring together grassroots leaders to shape and direct the goals and outcomes of organizing work.
- Conduct and coordinate research and power analysis to develop and advance strategic campaigns and organizing strategies that include direct services as a tactic for base building.
- Work with the Organizing Director to evaluate and assess campaigns and programs and make strategic and tactical decisions to most effectively move the organization toward its goals.
- Represent organization in coalition and community spaces.
Supervision and Administrative Work
- Supervise, train, and mentor a team of 1-3 staff.
- Develop or adopt adequate systems to track outreach and organizing efforts.Oversee program budgets in collaboration with the Operations Director.
- Co-manage contract and grant reporting with the Managing Director.
- Support programmatic fundraising opportunities; attend meetings for funding sources.
- Conduct semi-annual evaluation of the annual work plan in conjunction with members and staff.
- Participate in staff meetings, organizing team meetings, staff planning retreats, and feedback andassessment retreats.
- Participate and contribute actively to AROC political education and leadership development.
Media / Communications
- Conduct and coordinates communications for campaigns and projects in coordination with organizational communication plans.
- Work with organizing team to develop outreach materials for AROC projects and campaigns.
Fundraising
- Support the Fundraising Team in identifying potential funding opportunities with Foundations, Major Donors, and other potential income sources.
- When appropriate, participate in and support grassroots fundraising efforts.
Required Skills
- Bilingual in Arabic and English.
- Strong commitment to social, racial, and economic justice.

- An organizing leadership role, including identifying and developing campaigns in BIPOC communities(including low-income, immigrant, LGBTQ community members).
- Campaign development (power analysis, strategy development, tactical planning, execution, and evaluation).
- Development and facilitation of political education curriculum.
- Leadership development.
- Supervising and managing staff and teams.
- Working collaboratively in coalitions and networks.
- Strong personal and organization skills.
- Basic computer skills - familiarity with Word, Excel, various design and communications platforms, web browsers, Google Calendar, and Google Drive.
Preferred Skills
- Knowledge of the Bay Area Arab community.
- Knowledge of the wider Bay Area political, economic, and community organizing landscape.
Work Environment & Physical Demands
This position may require sitting at a desk for an extended period of time. It will also require being on site or to engage in local travel for organizational events, actions, and activities. There may be a hybrid work schedule between work from home and work out of the office. Some weekend and evening work will ber equired. The candidate should be able to work on a computer including sitting at a desk for extended periods of time with or without reasonable accommodation; manual dexterity to operate a keyboard; able to see or read a computer screen and printed material with or without vision aids; able to speak clearly and inaudible tones on the phone and in-person and be understood by others; able to hear and understand speech, including on the phone; able to understand and follow oral and written instructions; able to occasionally lift objects weighing up to 10 pounds.

Employment Terms
This position is 40 hours per week. This position has an hourly rate of $70-90K annually depending on experience and role determined. This position is non-exempt.
