Overview
AROC seeks to hire a part-time Legal Resource and Outreach Coordinator (LROC) to join our dynamic and dedicated staff. The LROC is expected to focus on community-centered engagement with our community members who contact AROC for services and support. Consistent with our commitment to community education and organizing, the LROC will primarily work with AROC's legal team and organizing staff to support our community members' access to legal and community resources. The LROC will also provide administrative support for Project Immigration Justice for Palestinians (IJP) and our resource mobilization efforts. The position will be supervised by the Director of AROC's legal program and support staff across the organization.
Who We Are
The Arab Resource and Organizing Center (AROC), a fiscally sponsored project of the Tides Center, is a social justice organization serving poor and working class Arabs and Muslims across the San Francisco Bay Area, while organizing to overturn racism, forced migration, and militarism. Recognizing the diversity of experiences within our community, AROC utilizes a multi-pronged strategy providing a centralized space for social services meeting material needs, developing analysis, creating strategy, and leading grassroots campaigns for systemic changes that make tangible impacts in the lives of working class SWANA (South West Asia and and North African) communities.
Responsibilities
Community Engagement
- Demonstrated commitment to social justice and serving marginalized communities, people of color, and/or immigrant communities
- Build relationships with community members who come to our center by welcoming members to our center, engaging in conversations with community members in our office and at community meetings, events etc
- Coordinate community events, such as legal clinics, community celebrations, meetings to build relationships and offer support to individual clients
- Identify and coordinate collaborative opportunities internally within AROC and externally within other coalition and collaborative partnerships and networks
Service Connection and Support
- Provide client support to legal team members
- Produce or procure quality bilingual materials, communications, and/or literature in Arabic and English to support community's access to AROC programs, immigration and policy updates, and relevant events, materials and content

- Support with the preparation and submission of relevant grant proposals, reports or other documents to maintain and grow AROC's legal resources
- Manage collaborative efforts within Project IJP, a project housed within AROC's legal program
Staff and Organization Meetings
- All AROC staff members are expected to participate in weekly check-in meetings with the organization, supervisor and specific teams
- Staff is expected to attend organization-wide retreats and annual fundraising events

Qualifications
- Post-secondary degree or a minimum of two (2) years of relevant work experience
- Experience and/or demonstrated commitment to supporting and empowering the rights of low-income, people of color and/or immigration communities
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a part of the a team
- High degree of discretion and professionalism for handling sensitive and confidential information
- Team player and trusted collaborator who takes initiative and interest in community-empowerment work with a dedication to social, racial and immigrant justice
- Technological proficiency in Google Suite
- Fluency in writing, reading, and speaking Arabic

Compensation
The annual compensation depends on relevant experience and ranges from 65,000-67,000 prorated at .5 FTE
