Now Hiring: Part Time Youth Organizer

Part Time Youth Organizer

Overview

Arab Resource and Organizing Center (AROC), a fiscally sponsored project of the Tides Center, is a social justice organization serving poor and working class Arabs and Muslims across the San Francisco Bay Area, while organizing to overturn racism, forced migration, and militarism. Recognizing the diversity of experiences within our community, AROC utilizes a multi-pronged strategy. This includes case management, immigration legal services, youth and adult leadership development, organizing campaigns, and coalitional movement building.

Arab Youth Organizing (AYO) is the youth arm of AROC, engaging Bay Area public school youth ages 14-22 in leadership development, organizing skills training, and political education.

Who We Are

Arab Resource and Organizing Center (AROC) organizes to fight for racial and economic justice and the dignity and liberation of our Arab, and Muslim communities. AROC works towards the self-determination of our people under attack in Palestine, Yemen, Iraq, Syria, Egypt, and across the entire SWANA region with the same breath that we fight for our freedoms here in the United States.

AYO was established as AROC’s youth arm by the first youth participants of the organization in 2009 in order to create a space for young Arabs in the Bay Area to build and organize their own communities. AYO brings together a diverse group of members from various SWANA countries, across genders, and representing San Francisco, Oakland, and other Bay Area cities. There are currently 25-30 active members regularly attending meetings, with more general members who participate in events.
